Find the keywords in a job description

Every job ad has a short list of words that decide whether you get through. They are easy to find once you count.

Keyword overlap between the two texts, counted in your browser. It is not a number any employer's system shows.

Read the requirements section first. Tools, certifications and role names there are what a recruiter types into a search box. Words that repeat across the ad are next: if 'onboarding' shows up in the title, the duties and the requirements, it is the point of the job.

FitCV does that counting for you. It ranks the terms, gives extra weight to bullets under requirements headings, joins two word phrases, and drops filler such as 'passionate' and 'fast paced'. Paste the ad and read the top of the list.

Then put each true keyword where it belongs in your resume: in a bullet that shows you used it, not in a block of white text. Keyword stuffing is easy for recruiters to spot and gets resumes binned.

You can use the extraction on its own, with no resume, to understand what an employer wants before you write anything.

How it works

  1. Paste the job ad.
  2. Read the ranked list.
  3. Paste your resume to see which ones you cover.
  4. Edit your bullets.

Questions

Does FitCV invent experience?
No. The model is told to use only your resume. Then a check in code removes any employer, school, degree, date, number, skill or tool that is not in what you pasted, and lists what it removed.
Is the score what an ATS shows?
No. Tracking systems do not publish a score. FitCV counts how many of the ad's weighted keywords appear in your resume, and tells you that is what it does.
What is free?
The match score and keyword lists, unlimited. One full tailoring (resume rewrite plus cover letter) per day. DOCX and PDF downloads of that result.
What do I get when I pay?
$14.90 once buys 10 full tailorings. $19.90 a month gives unlimited tailorings, and you can cancel in Stripe.
