Resume match score

The score is the share of the ad's important words that your resume already uses.

Keyword overlap between the two texts, counted in your browser. It is not a number any employer's system shows.

A 40 means you cover 40 percent of the weighted terms in the ad. A 75 means most of the key words are there. There is no magic threshold, and no real tracking system shows you one, so use the number to compare versions of your own resume against the same ad. Add a true keyword and watch it rise.

Weights come from the ad itself. Terms that repeat, and terms inside the requirements list, count more. Filler such as 'team player' or 'fast paced' is ignored, because nobody searches for it.

The score is computed by a short script that runs in your browser, so it is instant and the same input always gives the same answer. The full tailoring, which uses a language model, shows the score before and after so you can see what changed.

How it works

  1. Paste both texts.
  2. Read the number and the lists.
  3. Fix what is true and missing.
  4. Score again.

Questions

Does FitCV invent experience?
No. The model is told to use only your resume. Then a check in code removes any employer, school, degree, date, number, skill or tool that is not in what you pasted, and lists what it removed.
Is the score what an ATS shows?
No. Tracking systems do not publish a score. FitCV counts how many of the ad's weighted keywords appear in your resume, and tells you that is what it does.
What is free?
The match score and keyword lists, unlimited. One full tailoring (resume rewrite plus cover letter) per day. DOCX and PDF downloads of that result.
What do I get when I pay?
$14.90 once buys 10 full tailorings. $19.90 a month gives unlimited tailorings, and you can cancel in Stripe.
